Storm Austen!

Storm Austen!

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Road Safety Issues, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

Good evening everyone,

There is currently substantial flooding on Tehidy Road under the bridge. There are lots of areas of standing water and these are only going to increase as the evening goes on.

Please take extra care as Storm Austen is expected to bring severe weather conditions, including strong winds, heavy rainfall, and the potential for disruption to travel and local services.

Residents are advised to be very cautious when travelling. The height of the storm is due to hit between 01:00 and 10:00 hours. Many schools have adjusted their opening times so please check these before setting off in the morning . If you must travel, check weather forecasts and transport updates before setting out, allow extra time for your journey, and be prepared for sudden changes in conditions. Avoid coastal areas, flooded roads, and locations exposed to high winds.

Stay indoors where possible, secure any loose outdoor items, and keep mobile phones charged in case of emergencies. Continue to monitor official weather and emergency service updates throughout the storm period

Remember:
-Fallen Trees should be reported to the council
-Electrical power cuts are to be reported to National Grid.

In an emergency, call 999 if there is an immediate risk to life or serious danger. Stay safe and check on vulnerable family, friends and neighbours

If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.devon-cornwall.police.uk, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101.
